Talk to a lawyerHow it works
Preparers may only enter information into forms. They may not give legal advice, explain answers to legal questions, or help in bankruptcy court. 2
They must sign every document they prepare, with their name and address. They may not sign documents for the debtor, may not use the word "legal" in ads, and may not collect money for court filing fees. 2
Their fees can be capped, and they must file a sworn declaration listing fees received from the debtor within 12 months before the case was filed. 2
